Be happy – happy bees!

🀎🐝 🌺 Today is World Bee Day! 🌸 🐝 🀎

Let’s celebrate these little fellows who work so hard and keep us humans alive!

During the last years, I tried to plant lots of flowers in my garden, especially the variants bees like to visit. I read that especially the friendly and sweet bumblebees and the wild bees are in danger, so having bee-friendly flowers wherever we can is essential. It’s also good for our wellbeing having colorful flowers around.

And it’s important to avoid chemicals in gardens and planters – we use organic products and natural solutions to keep our plants healthy, such as compost for a good soil and we treat all the ladybugs we find with special attention, they help us gardening! 🐞❀️

Bunny on a walk

Now it’s time for Easter bunny to take it’s well-earned time off after all the hard work he put in painting Easter eggs, wrap the chocolate ones and of course deliver everything on time.

I just saw it going for a walk in the mountains north of Madrid, by the Pico de San Pedro. It’s a beautiful area were lots of his bunny-friends live, so I guess he on it’s way to a happy dandelion party.

Hope you had a nice Easter break, enjoy yourself, springtime just began.

Tissues and paper

A collage using all kinds of recycled materials could be called sustainable art…

Here you can find magazine cut-outs , tissues with ink stains the look like animal print, pages of a paperback book that wasn’t very interesting to read, but proved to have other qualities.

It was fun to play and to draw, it’s always interesting to discover effects and materials – some work well together – others not so much – just like in real life.

Have a nice week!

Collage and book recycling

Just got started with the collages using book pages, and I really enjoy working more on this idea, it’s fun!

Without having detailed idea what picture I wanted to create, I just doodled along, cut the shapes, stuck them in my sketchbook and started painting. Sometimes it feels good to just let the natural process go on and take little decisions on the fly without thinking too long about them.

See a short making-of-video I recorded while doing one of this week’s sketches:

Setting course into 2021

During these first days of the year I am setting sails towards this year’s dreams and goals – we will see where the journey goes.

Over the holidays I used the time to play around painting, drawing and illustration exploring possibilities with paper cuts, acrylics and ink. I started out in a christmas mood, but by now I got back to normal.

The drawings are not really illustrations although they are very closely related to books, as they consist of pages of all paperback book – I like the different shades of white and the contrasts, just focusing on white, grey and black tones for while, and then adding a little bit of color to it.

Interesting and unique gifts on Redbubble by macknifique

Guess what will replace the typical Christmas pair of socks in 2020? … Yessss! Probably there will be quite some face masks under trees and in stockings this year – a useful and fashionable gift.
So, if you want to give masks for Christmas, make sure they are original and cool! I just uploaded art for really fun mask-designs, but you can have them on socks, too… and on t-shirts, and pillows, and backbags, phone cases and a lot more!

Check these goodies out on Redbubble!

Bunny drawings

A little series of rabbit drawings and collages from my sketchbook. I used pieces of coloured magazines, watercolour, crayons and ink on brown kraft paper. Maybe these illustrations one day will be the inspiration for a bigger painting? Letβ€˜s see….
