A wire sculpture made its way into a decorative, yet functional lampshade. Playing around with a 3-dimensional wire structure, its shapes and shadows, adding on some garlands of recycled fabric and a few colourful African glass beads, I ended up with an original lamp. The interaction of light and shadow is an important effect that’s fun to experiment with.

It’s always exciting to start a new sketchbook! -And it’s kind of scary, too – you want to do it really well this time but as soon as the first fuck-up occurs, the nerves are getting calmer and you can enjoy playing around again….

Est ist immer aufregend, ein neues Skizzenbuch anzufangen, und macht auch ein bisschen Angst – aber sobald der erste Murks drin verewigt ist, hat man wieder Spass dran, so richtig ausgelassen mit Farben und Formen zu spielen….

Last Saturday was the great workshop day, my friend Silvia and me did two workshops at the fun Scapbooking place Bambola casa Creativa in Tres Cantos near Madrid: chalkboard boxes with a drawer in the morning and an original recipe book in the afternoon.
All the participants were in a really good mood – although I hope it wasn’t only the smell of the chalkboard paint that made them so happy ;-), and we created really great things!
I had a fabulous time and got very inspired to do the next one soon!
In the morning of our creative Workshop-Day we will show you how to built a chalkboard box with a drawer to keep your chalks, and a space inside to collect all the papers and stuff that normally is accumulating on our kitchen tables… We’ll help you to design, paint and decorate the outside with new techniques and materials, you’ll make a real special and eye-catching chalkboard.
The afternoon will be about creating a decorative and fun recipe holder, that allows to explore all kinds of painting techniques and color combinations, let your creativity flow!

Beauty weekend for the KNOWMO garden markers: I’m doing tests with different surface treatments, the black surfaces are ready to write on, I rusted the steal of some and varnished it afterwards, and others I just varnished to avoid rusting.
All together, they are now sitting on my backyard bench while they dry out, and I thought they are a nice crowd worth a group photo… which one you like best?
These gnomes makes you know more, that’s why I decided to call them KNOWMOs.
I had them made out of steal and the first few already started their jobs, standing next to the freshly planted seeds and helping to remember what was planted where.
The markers are of normal steal and will be rusty within some time, what will give them a nice vintage look, and I think the rusty color will contrast nicely with the fresh green leaves that will (hopefully) grow around them soon….
I’m doing some experiments with different surface treatments… Which one you like better?
